Guided Practice: Demonstrate for students how to make a puppet using the puppet supplies.
Give the puppet a name. Have students make and name their own puppets, assisting as
necessary. Once puppets are completed, ask students to say to their puppets, “Hello. My name
is _____. What is your name? How are you? I am _____. Goodbye.” (Hola! Me llamo _____.
¿Cómo te llamas tú? ¿Cómo estás? Yo estoy _____. Adiós.) (The puppet can ask students
questions to extend this portion of the lesson.)
Independent Practice: Students repeat the conversation with their own puppets.
Closure: Move among students, asking individual students, “What is your name? How are you?.
