Guided Practice:
• Take a Fish Sorting Mat and a handful of Goldish® crackers. “I am going to sort my ish by
color. I put all the red ish together on the red square.” (Voy a ordenar mis peces por color.

• Ask students to sort their ish by color using their Fish Sorting Mat.
• Take a copy of the Fish Graph and say, “Help me count my red ish.” (Ayúdenme a contar
mis peces rojos.) Count aloud with the students.
• “Now I am going to color in the boxes on my Fish Graph. Help me count.” (Ahora voy a

• Color in the number of boxes in the red column on the Fish Graph corresponding to the
number of red ish.

• While students are eating, walk around and ask questions about individual students’ Fish
Graphs, such as, “Which color has more/less? Which color has the most ish/the least
ish?” (¿Qué color tiene más/menos? ¿Qué color tiene el mayor número de peces/el
menor número de peces?)
Closure: Ask students, “How many green ish are there?” (¿Cuántos peces verdes hay?)
Continue asking until all colors have been discussed.
